Casting Crowns- What If His People Prayed

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Here's my challenge for today, albeit a short one. I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I wonder how many Christians today actually depend on the power of prayer every day. How many people would rather turn to 'Ask Annie' or Oprah for answers than turn to the one who knows everything? One of the reasons our world is so broken is because we've lost the insight of the true vitality of our spiritual walk. Our nation is no longer a true Christian nation, even though there are still Christians here.

And that's because the Christians that are here fail to make any difference. Whether it's because we've become so separate from the rest of the world with our legalistic expectations and demands, or because we fail to be in the world altogether because of a fear of becoming too much like it, we're not 'rescuing the perishing' like we're commanded to. The power of answered prayer can change lives for His Kingdom, but we have to actually take it up as a weapon against the spritual forces we face (see Ephesians 6:12). It's not enough to sit back and watch the world go by. We need to be involved in it actively in order to see any change.

So, what will you do with the power you've been given? He'll answer you, no matter how desperate a situation you find yourself in. He's greater than any worldly wisdom you can get.
