Pillar - For The Love of The Game

What with the Super Bowl and all tonight, I figured tonight would be a good time to pull something like this song out. The Packers and the Steelers both played a great game, but the better team won tonight. I don't think that any one of those players out on the field would have been playing if they didn't love what they did. It's not an easy sport to play, because of the physical poundings that they take. And that's not to mention the mental and emotional stress that they deal with. Fans are hard to please, and they'll point fingers at anything that is 'unfair', including the players. Suffice it to say that they're in it for the love of the game.

And what about our lives as Christ-followers in this world? Why do we put up with the abuse, the false accusations, the hatred, the hurt and pain? Heaven is an amazing goal, one that all Christians can look forward to. But if we're only focused on our final destination, we'll get lost on the journey. We have to put aside the tribulations we face in order to let our light shine among those we encounter every day. And perhaps that means we need to love what we do, rather than just enduring it. Otherwise, we're not really being sincere about our faith. And that's enough to turn someone away from Christ. How many people have Christians with great intentions turned away people from Jesus because of insincerity?
