"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. (1 Corinthians 13:4-6) This song pretty much describes all of the wrong ways to go about loving others. Pain, shame, hate, and anger will all destroy our ability to love properly. We have to guard both against letting ourselves get into relationships with people who do these things and against committing these trespasses ourselves.

This goes back to the verse in Philippians that I mentioned earlier (4:8). We need to dwell on the things that are pure and true, rather than the things that will lead us to (the dark side) anger and hate.
